The 1980s was a Magical Time for Fantasy Film
Everyone knows the classics that will never fade with time, such as: The Never ending Story, Labyrinth, The Dark Crystal, Willow, The Goonies, Legend, etc...
But there are a few films out there that some people are not as familiar with. A few reasons might have to do with the film’s extremely low budget, bad special effects, and lack of acting abilities. Never the less, these films deserve their rightful place amongst the list of 80’s fantasy movies and a special nostalgic place in our hearts. After all, some of these lesser known movies were the first onscreen appearances for a few top name actors.
In no particular order, here are 7 films you may have overlooked as a child.
1. Mio In The Land Of Far Away (1987)
Christian Bale makes his first onscreen appearance in this tale about a lonely boy who is transferred from his dull life with his adoptive parents to the land where his real father is the king. In that country he sets out on a quest, together with his new friend (Bale), to destroy the evil Knight Kato.
2. The Peanut Butter Solution (1985)
The Peanut Butter Solution is a recipe for a magic potion made by two friendly ghosts. Eleven-year-old Michael loses all of his hair when he gets “the fright” and uses the potion to get his hair back, but too much of the solution causes things to get a bit hairy. Michale’s new found hair may also contain supernatural properties making him a target to those who wish to exploit it.
